Indigo Airline Fine: The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has imposed a fine of 5 lakhs on the Indigo airline company. This fine has been imposed on the company for its failure to adequately handle the case of a special child at Ranchi Airport. A statement has been issued by DGCA in this regard. In which it has been said that there was a lack of handling of the special child by the IndiGo ground staff and unnecessary controversy was escalated.
The child could have been extinguished: DGCA
The DGCA has said that with more compassionate behavior, the child could have been explained and extinguished. Such a situation could have been avoided. The DGCA said that special circumstances require extraordinary response. However, the airline staff failed to rise to the occasion and in the process lapsed in compliance with the Civil Aviation Requirements Regulations. In view of this the competent authority in DGCA has decided to impose a fine of Rs. 5 lakhs.
DGCA had given instructions for investigation in the matter
At the same time, the reason for this was given by Indigo airline that the child was nervous about traveling in the plane. After this incident came to light, where the aviation regulator DGCA had directed to investigate the matter. At the same time, the Central Government had also taken cognizance of this. Union Civil Aviation and Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia also tweeted on this and said that the entire investigation will be under his supervision. The airline had apologized after Scindia's tough attitude.

On May 7, an IndiGo manager allegedly misbehaved with a disabled child at the Ranchi airport. The incident came to light after an eyewitness of the incident went viral on social media. According to a passenger who was present at the spot at the time of the incident, the child was finding it difficult to ride the car at the airport and when he reached the boarding gate, he was quite was under stress. However, his parents pacified him with some food and love.

But, at the time of boarding, an IndiGo manager warned the family that the child would not be allowed to board the plane until the child behaved normally. The manager also reportedly announced that the specially-abled child is a risk to other passengers. Despite several co-passengers opposing his move, the manager remained adamant.
