Pending: Tesla adjusted the price of the 2027 Model Y in the United States
Tesla updated the prices of the 2027 Model Y in the US and some versions went up to $1,000
Those who had been closely following the price of the Tesla Model Y in the United States found an unexpected development this week. The brand modified the value of several configurations of the most popular electric SUV in its catalog and, although not all versions were affected, some increases are already reflected in the official configurator.

The update corresponds to the 2027 Model Y and marks the first relevant adjustment for this vehicle in quite some time. Tesla decided to keep the prices of the most affordable variants intact, but applied increases in the premium finishes and the Performance version, which now cost more than just a few days ago.

The movement is not accompanied by new functions, mechanical changes or autonomy improvements, something that will surely make noise among potential buyers who were waiting for some type of evolution to justify the increase.
The versions that increased in price
Tesla applied specific increases in three specific configurations of the 2027 Model Y. The Premium versions with rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive received an increase of $ 1,000 each, while the Model Y Performance rose by $ 500.
On the other hand, the entry options remain exactly the same and continue to be the most economical gateway to the American firm's electric SUV.
This is how the updated price list looked in the United States before tax incentives:
Some additional costs still have to be added to these figures. Tesla is maintaining the $250 non-refundable ordering fee and offering the optional towing package for $1,000. Additionally, the FSD supervised autonomous driving system remains available via monthly subscription for $99.
There are no changes in autonomy or equipment
One of the details that stands out the most is that the increase is not accompanied by technical improvements. The specifications of the 2027 Model Y remain identical to those of the previous year, both in autonomy and in performance and general equipment.
That means a buyer will pay more money for the exact same vehicle in affected versions. Tesla also did not publicly explain what motivated this adjustment, a fairly common practice for the company when it makes price changes to its models.
The Model Y remains key for Tesla
The change also reflects the importance of the Model Y within Tesla's business strategy in the United States. It is currently the only SUV that the brand sells in that market and continues to be one of the best-selling electric vehicles in the country.
For this reason, any variation in its price generates immediate repercussions between consumers and competitors. Furthermore, the fact that Tesla had kept values stable for nearly two years was already unusual in an industry marked by constantly increasing costs and raw materials.
Now it will be necessary to see if these new prices affect the sales rate of the Model Y or if the demand for the electric SUV remains just as solid despite the increase.
