Total alert: Ford recommends not driving some Bronco and Maverick
A failure in suspension components led Ford to issue a rare warning to Bronco Sport and Maverick owners
Ford made a decisive decision with part of its fleet of Bronco Sport and Maverick. The automaker issued a “do not drive” recommendation for thousands of units after detecting a fault that, in certain circumstances, could lead to loss of control of the vehicle.

The call involves 4,653 examples manufactured between the 2021 and 2026 model years. The situation is linked to a front suspension component whose assembly may not have been carried out correctly.

The origin of the problem
The situation is related to the front lower control arm ball joints. If these parts are improperly installed or repaired, they could fail while the vehicle is moving.
That scenario represents a significant security risk. A failure in this component can cause the control arm to separate from the wheel assembly, seriously affecting stability and steering control.
An unusual warning
It is not often that a manufacturer recommends stopping driving a vehicle immediately. Precisely for this reason, Ford's decision has attracted attention within the industry.
The company believes that the defect may compromise the vehicle's controllability and significantly increase the risk of a collision. For this reason, the recommendation is to avoid any movement until the corresponding review is completed.
Owners of a Bronco Sport or Maverick from the years involved should check to see if their unit is part of the campaign. To do this, they can consult the vehicle identification number, known as VIN, in the official channels enabled for this type of process.
Ford will carry out the inspection at no cost to the customer and, if any anomaly is found, it will make the necessary repair free of charge.
A call focused on security
Although the number of affected vehicles is small compared to the total production volume of both models, the potential severity of the problem led the brand to act quickly.
The measure seeks to avoid incidents and reinforce user security. It also demonstrates the importance of immediately addressing any notifications related to critical components such as suspension, especially when vehicle control is at stake.
