The president of the United States, Donald Trump, threatened Iran this Monday to make it “pay” for the death of American soldiers, after the death of three troops in Jordan and Iraq.

“Every time Iran kills an American soldier, it will pay many times more,” Trump said in a message on the Truth Social network.

The Republican assured that he has given this instruction to the Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth; to the head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Daniel Caine; and to the entire US military leadership.

Two American soldiers were killed this weekend in an Iranian attack on a military base in Jordan and another died in Iraq during the controlled detonation of an Iranian explosive.

These are the first American casualties recorded since the breakdown of the US-Iran ceasefire almost two weeks ago.

With this, at least 17 US service members have died since the United States and Israel launched an offensive against Iran on February 28 that led to the current war.

This weekend, Washington and Tehran continued the exchange of attacks, which further complicates efforts to advance a peace dialogue stalled amid the escalation. EFE
