Online sales during Black Friday in the US exceeded $11.8 billion
Online shopping increased 9.1% during Black Friday compared to last year
Although economists have pointed out that this year, sales during the holiday season, including discount dates like Black Friday and Cyber ??Monday, will be atypical, as they are fraught with uncertainty due to inflation, tariffs, and changes in monetary policy.
According to Adobe Analytics, online sales during this Friday, November 28th, reached a record level of $11.8 billion, meaning that e-commerce increased by 9.1% on Black Friday compared to the previous year. Regarding this, Joe Shasteen, global manager of advanced analytics at RetailNext, commented that "the issue is not just that shoppers stayed home, but that they are changing how and when they shop." According to Adobe's analysis, purchases were mostly made from mobile devices, and according to Shasteen, the trend now is that consumers are spreading their purchases over a period of time and may even enter stores with a specific goal, something not seen in previous seasons. RetailNext's data also indicates that in-store shopping is also declining, falling 3.6% during this year's Black Friday compared to last year. Adobe also indicated that during Thanksgiving, US consumers spent a record amount. $6.4 billion was spent on online purchases, and artificial intelligence played a part in that with shopping, advertising, and social media marketing services. The National Retail Federation predicts that consumers could spend over a trillion dollars this year, with more and more Americans turning to "buy now, pay later" plans.
