During the previous session, the Mexican peso managed to advance against the greenback thanks to an improvement in investor sentiment regarding the possibility of a diplomatic solution to the conflict in the Middle East. However, in recent hours, tensions between the United States and Iran have returned.
According to Dow Jones data, at the opening of the markets the US dollar was quoted at $17.31 Mexican pesos, which represents a positive variation of 0.07% compared to the previous closing of $17.30 pesos per currency.
The Bank of Mexico (Banxico) reported that the official closing on Tuesday, June 2, was $17.2874 pesos per dollar, a figure calculated from the average of banking operations carried out during the day. However, as the exchange session progressed, the exchange rate ended up close to $17.30 pesos per unit.
On the other hand, Banxico also detailed that the FIX exchange rate published in the Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF) for this Wednesday was established at $17.2945 pesos per dollar. Likewise, the agency reported that the exchange rate to pay obligations in US dollars was set at $17.3780 pesos per unit.
The Mexican currency gained 0.40% during the day on Tuesday, June 2, recovering ground against the US dollar after several days marked by international uncertainty. On the other hand, in the last week, the dollar accumulates a fall of 0.32%. At an annual rate, the decline reaches 7.15%, reflecting that the Mexican peso maintains a solid position against the US currency.
The foreign exchange market also continues to show stability. Currently, volatility is around 4.22%, a level lower than the reference volatility of 7.59%, which points to lower pressures on the exchange rate.

In the banking comparison, BBVA México maintains one of the lowest sales quotes of the day. Meanwhile, Banco Azteca and Scotiabank offer some of the highest purchase prices for those looking to exchange dollars, surpassing Banamex, which had led the best offer for many weeks.
In remittance companies, Western Union quotes the dollar at $16.92 Mexican pesos, while MoneyGram sets the exchange rate at $17.81 pesos per unit.
Oil rises due to tension in the Middle East
International markets continue to pay attention to the evolution of the conflict between the United States and Iran. This situation has boosted oil prices in recent hours.
A barrel of West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil is close to $96, while Brent oil is around $98 per barrel. The increase responds to reports of new clashes in the Persian Gulf region.
