Walmart Employee Shoots Woman After Fight at Houston Store
An argument between a worker and several acquaintances ended with shots fired inside a Walmart in Harris County. The injured woman is in stable condition.
A fight between several women ended with a shooting inside a Walmart in northeast Harris County, Texas, on Sunday afternoon.
The Harris County Sheriff's Office reported that the incident began with a confrontation between a store employee and three women she knew outside of work. The group arrived at the supermarket around 2:45 p.m., and after an argument, the dispute moved inside.
Videos recorded by witnesses show employees and security guards trying to separate the women as the fight progressed to the checkout area.
When the fight ended, the employee pulled out a gun and shot one of the women, wounding her but expected to survive.
The employee immediately turned herself in to authorities. “It was a little scary. Everyone ran away to any place they could to get away from the scene,” a witness said.
Reactions and closure of the store
Customers and employees quickly evacuated the area. Walmart decided to close the store for the rest of the day while investigators gathered evidence.
“From what they told me, she was a shy employee and never showed any signs of being that way, so they thought it was strange that she solved the problem with a gun,” said Santino Degomez, who witnessed the arrest.
Authorities identified the alleged shooter as Breshaun Manuel, who faces one charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
It has not been confirmed if other people involved in the fight will face additional charges.
