This Tuesday, June 23, 2026, the price of the dollar in Mexico registers an increase against the Mexican peso, driven by the strengthening of the US currency observed during the previous day.
The average price of the dollar today in Mexico is $17.45 pesos per unit. The price reflects an upward adjustment after the Mexican peso lost ground against the greenback at the close of Monday, in a session marked by greater demand for dollar-denominated assets.
According to information from the Bank of Mexico (Banxico), the official closing of the dollar corresponding to Monday, June 22, was $17.3738 pesos per unit. This data is calculated based on the average of the operations carried out by the country's banking institutions. However, due to the continuous operation of the exchange market, the exchange rate ended around $17.37 pesos per dollar at the end of the session.
According to data from Dow Jones, at the opening of this Tuesday the US currency was quoted on average at $17.49 Mexican pesos. This represents an increase of 0.65% compared to the previous close of $17.38 pesos, a sign of strengthening for the dollar in the first hours of trading.
During the last week, the US currency accumulates an advance of 1.71% against the Mexican peso. However, when comparing its performance with the same period last year, the dollar maintains a fall of 6.20%.
Despite the movement registered in recent days, the volatility of the exchange market continues at relatively moderate levels. It currently stands at 5.07%, below the reference volatility of 7.57%, which suggests a more stable environment for foreign exchange operations.
Banxico also reported that the FIX exchange rate published in the Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF) for this Tuesday was established at $17.3480 pesos per dollar. Likewise, the exchange rate applicable for the payment of obligations denominated in foreign currency was set at $17.3247 pesos per unit.
The FIX exchange rate is a reference used in contracts, financial operations and commercial obligations. Its calculation is made based on the average of the prices observed in the wholesale exchange market during banking business days and is published one day before its entry into force.

For its part, in the exchange houses located on the border of Tamaulipas and other border regions, the US currency is sold for around $17.50 pesos and purchased for approximately $16.50 pesos.
In companies dedicated to international money sending, Western Union quotes the dollar at $16.96 Mexican pesos. For its part, MoneyGram sets the exchange rate at $17.80 pesos per unit.
Another factor that continues to be observed by international markets is the evolution of oil prices. This Monday, energy prices fell after the Vice President of the United States, JD Vance, reported that there was progress in talks with Iran and that the Strait of Hormuz remained open.
In this context, a barrel of Brent oil stood at $77.47 dollars, while West Texas Intermediate (WTI) reached $73.54 dollars per barrel.
