Arizona authorities are searching for three members of the same family who disappeared under circumstances considered suspicious, after agents found evidence of a possible violent act during an inspection of their home located in Litchfield Park, a community located about 20 miles west of Phoenix.
The case is being investigated by the Avondale Police Department, which reported that the disappearance involves a husband, wife and their adult son.
A welfare check led to the discovery of suspicious evidence
The investigation began when relatives asked the police to conduct a welfare check at the home of the three residents.
Upon arriving at the home on Tuesday, officers found no one there. However, during the inspection they detected signs that an act of violence could have occurred, according to the police in a statement released on Wednesday.
Although the authorities did not specify what type of evidence was found, they indicated that the case is being treated as an investigation into the disappearance of people under suspicious circumstances.
Police believe this is an isolated incident.
Authorities indicated that, at this time, there is no known threat to the community.
“We believe this is an isolated incident that occurred at the residence,” the Avondale Police Department said.
As the search continues for the three missing family members, investigators are asking for the cooperation of anyone who may have observed suspicious or unusual activity around the home in recent days.
Police asked that any relevant information be immediately reported to the Avondale Police Department.
