New Jersey man accused of strangling his disabled daughter to death

A New Jersey man is accused of strangling his disabled adult daughter.
Dennis J. Hall, 71, was charged with first-degree murder in the death of Devin Hall, 40, who was found unconscious in her family home on Thursday, June 11.
According to a news release from the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office, officers with the Franklin Township Police Department responded to the home on East Avenue at 6:16 a.m. m. on June 11 after Hall reported her daughter was not breathing.
“Hall admitted to strangling the victim both during the call to emergency services and to officers when they arrived,” the statement states. "A witness also told police that Hall had woken them up and admitted to strangling the victim."
Devin's mother, Jan Hall, told ABC6 that her husband suffered from depression before the murder.
"When he woke me up, I asked him what was happening and he said, 'I strangled Devin. She's dead.' And I thought I hadn't heard him correctly," he declared, according to the outlet. Jan said she then tried to revive her daughter.
Devin was taken to the hospital, where she died on June 12 after being taken off life support, according to prosecutors. The autopsy confirmed that he died of asphyxiation.
Jan told ABC6 that she wants her husband to "explain to me why he did it," adding that "he had a chance to come get me when he came in and she had wet the bed. He could have come to wake me up. I could have helped him."
"It's like hell. I feel like I'm living a nightmare," Jan said, according to the outlet.
Hall's detention hearing is scheduled for June 23. He is currently being held in the Salem County Jail.
