Suspect in Brown University shooting identified and arrest warrant issued after six-day search
A suspect in the shooting at Brown University, which occurred last Saturday and left two students dead and nine others injured, has been identified and now faces an arrest warrant, following a six-day search that yielded no concrete results, sources close to the investigation reported.
Investigating possible link to MIT crime
Investigators are also analyzing a possible connection between the attack at Brown and the murder of MIT professor Nuno Loureiro, which occurred two days later in Massachusetts. Both campuses are less than 80 kilometers apart, although authorities have not yet confirmed a direct link between the cases.
Victims of the attack
The shooting killed Ella Cook, 19, a sophomore from Alabama, and Mukhammad Aziz Umurzokov, 18, a freshman of Uzbek-American descent. The university community remains in mourning as the investigation continues and security measures on campus are reinforced.
