The Department of Justice is searching for a subject who entered the office of Alina Saad Habba, acting US Attorney for the District of New Jersey, with the intent to attack her.
“Last night, an individual attempted to assault one of our federal prosecutors—my dear friend @USAttyHabba—caused damage to her office, and then fled. Fortunately, Alina is safe. No act of violence or threat of violence against any federal official will be tolerated. Period,” she stated.
The Tampa Republican reiterated that during the current federal administration, no manifestation of violence will be permitted, and a firm hand will be taken against anyone who attempts to perpetrate it.
“We will find this person and bring them to justice. This Department will use every legal resource available to ensure your safety and that violent offenders are held fully accountable,” she warned.
Habba, who is awaiting Senate confirmation as a federal prosecutor, is pursuing the prosecution of Democrat LaMonica McIver, representative for the 10th Congressional District. from New Jersey, who she accuses of attacking law enforcement officers with her forearms when some members of her party attempted to enter an immigrant detention center located in Newark, New Jersey, all of this in May.
Through a post shared on her social media, Alina Habba indicated that the violent episode that occurred in her office will not prevent her from fulfilling her duty to ensure that the law is respected.
“I will not be intimidated by radical lunatics for doing my job,” she wrote.
