Cardi B would plan to release an album in Spanish
Following the success of her characteristic outspoken style, the “Bodak Yellow”
Cardi B decided it's time to return to her linguistic roots. During the closing of his US tour, “Little Miss Drama,” the rapper surprised thousands of fans in Charlotte, North Carolina, by announcing that his next big step in the music industry will be the release of an album entirely in Spanish. With her characteristic outspoken style, the “Bodak Yellow” singer made it clear that her transition to the Latin market is not just an artistic exploration, but a strategic business decision. “You know, I talk about money in English and in Spanish. After this album I'm going to release, I'm going for the Spanish market,” she declared on stage. “There's a lot of money in Spanish waiting for me, I'm going to go get it,” she added amid cheers from the audience. This news doesn't come as a complete surprise to the “Bardi Gang,” as its fanbase is known. In 2024, the artist conducted a poll on X, asking his fans about the possibility of a project entirely in Spanish. The result was overwhelming: 79% voted in favor of seeing the Dominican-Trinidadian rapper dominating Latin rhythms. Although Cardi B was born and raised in the Bronx, New York, she has always been deeply connected to Hispanic culture. In recent posts, the artist recalled that English was not her native language, having formally learned it at age seven due to the influence of her immigrant parents. The announcement coincided with a special night in which the rapper had Puerto Rican artist Ozuna as a surprise guest, reaffirming his close relationship with leading figures in the urban genre. After finishing the promotion of his current album, “Am I the Drama?”, the star will focus entirely on this new material, which promises to revolutionize the charts throughout Latin America.
