An operation implemented by federal forces in Mazatlán, Sinaloa, led to the capture of Adrián “N”, alias “El 20”, identified as the regional head of the Sinaloa Cartel.
According to a statement issued by the Security Cabinet, the detainee is accused of his participation in attacks against elements of the Army during the operations to capture Ovidio Guzmán in 2019 and 2023.
In addition, he was considered responsible for coordinating criminal activities in the southern region of Sinaloa, with a presence in Mazatlán, Villa Unión, El Rosario, Concordia, El Palmito and surrounding communities.
The authorities relate it to the armed attacks recorded during the so-called “Culiacanazo” in October 2019, as well as to the violent events that occurred in January 2023, when Ovidio Guzmán López was recaptured.
He is also accused of his participation in an attack against soldiers in which five members of the Army died.
According to official reports, “El 20” operated as regional head of the criminal group in southern Sinaloa, where he coordinated armed cells, security activities for the organization and confrontational actions against federal forces.
At the time of his arrest, they seized 2 7.62 mm caliber machine guns, 4 long firearms, 30 magazines, 2,158 cartridges, a vehicle and various tactical equipment.
This arrest occurs in the midst of the operations that federal forces maintain in Sinaloa to weaken the structures of organized crime and arrest targets considered priority by the Government of Mexico.
