Two men were arrested Tuesday morning for their alleged involvement in the murder of Daevon Silva, a 23-year-old from Pawtucket, Rhode Island, which occurred on November 24 near Times Square, the New York Police Department (NYPD) reported.
The detainees were identified as Paul Ohore, of 32-year-old Silva and 29-year-old Alagie Jatta, both residents of the Bronx, were arrested. Authorities said they were apprehended around 6:50 am on warrants and face murder charges. The attack occurred in the early morning hours. According to the police investigation, Silva was attacked shortly after 1:00 am at the intersection of West 49th Street and Seventh Avenue, one of the busiest areas in Manhattan. The victim was beaten with a baseball bat and subsequently stabbed in the back and right thigh. Following the attack, she was rushed to Bellevue Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Police sources indicated that the incident may be related to a previous conflict between the victim and at least one of the assailants, although the exact motive remains under investigation. Background of the suspects: According to the NYPD, Alagie Jatta has five prior arrests, including one in November 2023 for weapons possession.
