The scientific identification of the human remains found in a ranch allowed us to confirm the homicide of Roxana Berenice Guzmán Ramírez
The State Attorney General's Office (FGE) of Veracruz confirmed this Friday the murder of journalist Roxana Berenice Guzmán Ramírez, after expert studies determined that the human remains located in a ranch in the municipality of Moloacán correspond to the communicator, who had been missing since the beginning of June.
Through a statement, the agency reported that the scientific identification of the remains made it possible to confirm the murder of the director of the digital media Pulso Informativo del Sureste, who was kidnapped by an armed group at her home in Nanchital, a fact that was recorded in a video broadcast on social networks.
As part of the investigations, the Prosecutor's Office executed eight arrest warrants against those allegedly responsible for the crime.
Among those detained are Javier Iván “N”, alias Delta 1; José del Carmen “N”, alias Delta 7; and Luis Arturo “N”, alias Delta 11 or El Pelón, accused of their alleged participation in the kidnapping and murder of the journalist.
Likewise, four municipal police officers from Ixhuatlán del Sureste were captured, who, according to the FGE, would have provided logistical support, resources and food to the criminal group involved in the crime.
Guzmán's body was located in a ranch located in the municipality of Moloacán, in the south of Veracruz, where the authorities carried out ministerial and expert investigations that led to the official identification of the victim.
The case provoked widespread condemnation from organizations defending freedom of expression, which since the journalist's disappearance demanded that her reporting work be considered a priority line of investigation and demanded justice.
With the murder of Roxana Guzmán, Veracruz adds a new case of violence against journalists, in a context in which various national and international organizations have warned about the risks faced by journalistic practice in the entity.
The Veracruz Prosecutor's Office assured that investigations will continue to fully clarify the crime and bring all those involved to justice.
