Karol G revealed that Feid encouraged her to sing in English on her new album
Last week, the Colombian singer released her fifth studio album, which she described as “a love letter to her roots and her identity.”
Since she released her new album, Tropicoqueta, Karol G has been in the world's attention. A special album for her with which, through different rhythms, she reconnects with her musical roots and her identity.
An album that was born in 2023 during her Manana sera bonito tour and for which she counted on the help of close people, like her boyfriend Feid, who motivated and inspired her.
In a recent interview, the Colombian singer said that her boyfriend was the one who motivated her to sing in English for the first time for one of her albums. It's “Papasito,” the third song on the album and her favorite.
“'Papasito' is my baby, I love that song because the song was first written completely in Spanish and then after spending a day with Salo (Feid) he started singing and said: 'I wanna be with you,' and at that moment I realized it was a very good idea,” said Karol G.
The singer said she decided to change the language on “Papasito” so her fans in English-speaking countries could connect more with her music.
“We had a lot of people come to see us in the United States, the Manana tour will be nice and many of them, even though they come from Latino families, speak English, so I wanted a song that they would understand Latin rhythms a little more with,” she explained.
Last week, Karol G released Tropicoqueta, her fifth studio album, which includes collaborations with artists such as Marco Antonio Solis and Manu Bye.
After its release, Karol G assured that Tropicoqueta is a love letter to her roots, to her identity. A project in which she put her soul and heart, and with which, she believes, many will feel identified.
“This album sounds like a little piece of all of us, it started as a wish in August 2023, since then I have been leaving some clues along the way and I can say that when I finished it, I did it with my heart full of the love I received in every country I visited…”, she affirmed
