This was confirmed by director Adele Lim during an interview on the red carpet of the Golden Gala, organized by Gold House, as cited by Variety. Lim, known by being co-writer of “Crazy Rich Asians”, ensured that the third movie “is on the good path” and that the team is working to do justice to a very beloved franchise.
“We just want to do the story well because it is a franchise that is very loved by many, many people,” Lim told Variety. or that many of the fans of the original 2001 movie are now mothers, including herself, and that experience influenced the narrative approach.
“There are many movies that are a dream fulfilled for the princesses, but we don't have many movies that fulfill the dreams of the queens. That's what we're aiming to do here: show a woman in all her splendor,” he explained.
According to Lim, although the filming and production schedule is still being finalized, fans can expect Hathaway's return and also “many surprises” regarding the res all of the cast reprising their roles. The story will take place in the fictional kingdom of Genovia, and the crew plans to film in Europe to show the country “in all its splendor.”

“We're so excited because in a TV series we have the opportunity to explore all these different characters that the amazing writer Kevin Kwan brought to life in his series books”, said Lim. Although it has not yet been confirmed whether Constance Wu and Henry Golding will resume their roles, the director assured that “that is the intention” and that they are working on it.
