Javier Bardem details the experience of acting with Penelope Cruz in “Bunker”
In a recent interview, the Spanish actor shared a look about his professional and family life with Penelope Cruz
Javier Bardem, actor known for his participation in stories like “Dune” and “Goya’s Ghosts”, is preparing to add one more project to his filmography. It is the film “Bunker”, directed by Florian Zeller and in which he shares credits with his wife, Penelope Cruz.
In an interview with Variety magazine, the Spaniard opened up about the experience of sharing a scene with the mother of his children, calling it an exercise of balance with his personal life.
According to Bardem's testimony, the filming of “Bunker” brought with it various moments of coincidence with his marriage in real life, since the characters they play are in a relationship within the story.
“It helps us to see each other because sometimes you are so immersed in the daily routine, in the children and the house, that you wonder: 'When feel look into the eyes again? When do you start to breathe again and to connect with the other person?'”, the 57-year-old famous expressed.
Likewise, in the talk he remembered that this is not the first time that he shares credits in a production with his wife Penelope Cruz. Now we are forced to sit, look, at each other, listen and be in emotional contact for many hours,” he stressed.
In this sense, he confessed that despite the challenges that any marriage entails, their relationship remains solid thanks to an important rule: “At home we don't talk much about work. We don't have posters no photos nor anything that reminds us of what we do for a living. We try to compartmentalize life and fiction. We don't waste a lot of time talking about work, although we love what we do”, he explained.
Coupled with this recipe for a harmonious marriage, Javier Bardem is clear that admiration towards his partner is indispensable to stay in love: “Penelope is an incredible, beautiful person " the way in which she relates to her family, to her friends, to our children, to me, to herself. Many years have gone and I haven't seen a trace of malice in her," he told to the publication.
