Amazon Prime Day 2026: what to buy and what to avoid
Find out which products are worth buying during Amazon Prime Day 2026 and which ones should be left for future sales
Amazon Prime Day 2026 deals are now available and millions of shoppers are looking to take advantage of the discounts before the event ends. However, one of the biggest mistakes during these days of promotions is to think that everything that has a sale label represents an opportunity to save. The reality is that some categories reach their best prices of the year during Prime Day, while others tend to offer more attractive discounts on later dates. Therefore, we explain which products are worth buying and which are better to leave for later.
What to buy on Amazon Prime Day 2026
Amazon devices top the list of recommended products. Prime Day fue creado, en parte, para impulsar las ventas de marcas propias como Kindle, Echo, Fire TV, Blink y Ring, por lo que suelen registrar algunos de los descuentos más agresivos fuera de Black Friday.
Among this year's featured offers are the Amazon Fire TV Stick HD with a 54% discount, the Amazon smart plug with a 48% discount, the Blink Outdoor 4 system with five cameras that reaches a 65% discount and the popular Echo Dot with a 30% discount.
There is another category that captures consumers' attention and is a good idea to buy during Amazon Prime Day: technology.
“Technology is one of the few categories where what people plan to buy and what is actually worth buying coincide,” said Stephanie Carls, retail analytics expert at RetailMeNot.
During this edition of Prime Day it is possible to find discounts on smart watches, headphones, Bluetooth speakers, digital cameras, e-readers and smart home devices. Among the products with the most striking offers are:
Small appliances for the home and kitchen also tend to reach very competitive prices. Robot vacuum cleaners, coffee makers, air fryers, air purifiers and blenders are some of the categories that historically participate with significant discounts. This year highlights:
Another category that many people overlook is everyday essentials. Detergents, toothpaste, batteries, packaged foods, pet supplies, supplements, and personal hygiene products often offer discounts that result in significant long-term savings. Although they are not exciting purchases, they are products that sooner or later will have to be replaced.
Additionally, since Prime Day takes place at the end of June, it is also an attractive time to purchase summer-related products. Sunscreen, pool accessories, fans, camping chairs, beach bags and insect repellents are part of the seasonal offers that can be taken advantage of during the coming months.
What not to buy on Amazon Prime Day 2026
Despite the large volume of promotions, there are categories that should be left out of the shopping cart. Experts recommend waiting to purchase mattresses, patio furniture, grills and large appliances. These categories tend to see more aggressive discounts during July 4 sales and Labor Day promotions, when some businesses also include additional benefits such as shipping, installation or removal of old equipment.
Televisions and video game consoles also typically don't reach their lowest prices during Prime Day. Vipin Porwal, founder and consumer expert at Smarty, tells CNBC that the best deals for these products usually appear during Black Friday and Cyber Monday, when manufacturers and retailers compete most intensely for buyers.
Fall clothing and school supplies are other products to look forward to. As back to school approaches, many stores launch specific promotions and some states offer tax-free periods that help reduce the final cost even further.
To really take advantage of Prime Day, specialists advise creating a shopping list before starting, comparing prices with other stores and reviewing the price history of each product. They also recommend paying attention to flash sales, as they usually last a few hours and have limited inventory.
