The countdown to the opening ceremony of the 2026 World Cup is about to come to an end and the expectation about the show that will take place at the Mexico Stadium in Aztec territory remains at its highest point.

When and where to see the opening of the 2026 World Cup?
Being an unprecedented edition, with three host venues, the 2026 World Cup will feature a trilogy of ceremonies that will be completed with their respective openings in Canada and the United States, mixing the music and culture of each of these host countries.
The first of them will take place in Aztec territory this Thursday, June 11, just 90 minutes before the opening whistle of the Mexico vs South Africa match, while the shows corresponding to the United States and Canada will be on Friday, June 12.
The event will begin at 11:30 am in Mexico City, that is, 1:30 pm in the Eastern United States (EDT) and at 12:30 pm in the Central United States (CDT).
For countries such as Ecuador, Colombia, Peru and Panama, it will start at 12:30 p.m., while Argentina and Uruguay will enjoy the event at 2:30 p.m. According to details revealed by FIFA, the opening ceremony will last approximately one and a half hours.
The public will be able to follow the opening show of the World Cup through Fox in English. For their part, Telemundo and Peacock offer Latin audiences a broadcast in Spanish.
In Mexico it will be from the open signal of Channel 5 and Channel 7, as well as TUDN and the ViX streaming platform. Argentina, Uruguay, Chile, Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru you can follow the ceremony through Disney Premium.
Which artists will perform at the opening ceremony of the 2026 World Cup?
One of the first artists confirmed for the event is the singer Shakira, who performs the official song of the 2026 World Cup, “Dai Dai.” The media assures that he will be at the inauguration at the Mexico City Stadium with Burna Boy.
Along with the Colombian, Belinda, Danny Ocean, J Balvin, Lila Downs, Los Ángeles Azules, Andrea Bocelli and Maná will take the stage. Likewise, it was confirmed that Alejandro Fernández will represent Mexico singing the National Anthem, while Tyla will do the same for South Africa.
The opening celebration in Los Angeles will take place on Friday, June 12 and will be headlined by stars such as: Katy Perry, Future, Anitta, LISA, Rema and Tyla. In Canada, the sports festival will feature the talents of Alanis Morissette, Alessia Cara, Elyanna, Jessie Reyez, Michael Bublé, Nora Fatehi, Sanjoy, Vegedream, William Prince.
