Madonna to premiere “Confessions II – The Film” on YouTube
The Queen of Pop also took her film project to the Tribeca Festival before its global launch on the video platform
Madonna continues to expand her “Confessions” universe and has just announced one of the most anticipated surprises of the year: the world premiere of “Confessions II – The Film” on YouTube next June 8 at 11 a.m. (Eastern time).
The news, confirmed by the artist herself on her social networks, comes accompanied by a poster that promises stellar appearances and an unprecedented visual proposal.
Before its arrival on YouTube, the film had an exclusive premiere at the iconic Beacon Theater in New York, as part of the Tribeca Film Festival.
According to the festival's official description, “Confessions II” is billed as an “ambitious 10 minute visual work,” built around the first six songs from Madonna's upcoming self-titled album, which will be released on July 3 via Warner Records. Among the songs included, “I Feel So Free” and “Bring Your Love” stand out, the latter a duet with Sabrina Carpenter.
The film is described as “a single, continuous piece” that weaves together interconnected musical sequences to deliver “an immersive cinematic experience.”
The statement, according to Variety, adds: "A film that gives physicality to the music. "Confessions II" lives in the tension between control and surrender, between being seen and disappearing into the crowd."
The cast
The official poster revealed a surprising cast. Special appearances include names like Arca, Archie Madekwe, Benedict Cumberbatch, Cole Palmer, Debi Mazar, Gwendoline Christie, Honey Dijon, João Pedro, Julia Garner, Kate Moss, Odessa A'zion, Richard E. Grant, Shygirl and Madonna's own daughter, Lourdes Leon.
Madonna is in full promotional campaign. In April, she debuted the era's first single, “I Feel So Free,” before appearing as a surprise guest during Sabrina Carpenter's Coachella concert (second weekend). There they premiered “Bring Your Love” together, which they later released on digital platforms.
In addition, the artist offered a surprise performance in Times Square, New York, in collaboration with the Grindr app. During the event, he performed three songs that mixed his classic “Confessions on a Dance Floor” with songs from the upcoming sequel. To close the day, he released the third single from the album, “Love Sensation”, available now in streaming along with a radio version.
“Confessions II – The Film” will premiere on June 8 at 11 a.m. ET exclusively on YouTube.
