Several important MoUs were signed between India and Bangladesh on Tuesday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina were present on the occasion. During this, the Prime Ministers of India and Bangladesh signed an agreement on the sharing of water of the Kushiyara River, which would benefit southern Assam and the Sylhet region of Bangladesh.

On this occasion, PM Modi said that today we have signed an important agreement on sharing of water from the Kushiyara river. This will benefit southern Assam in India and Sylhet region in Bangladesh. There are 54 such rivers that pass through the Indo-Bangladesh border and have been linked to the livelihood of the people of both countries for centuries. He said that these rivers have also been witness to folk stories, folk songs about them, our cultural heritage.

PM Modi further said that last year we celebrated the 50th anniversary of Bangladesh's independence, the golden jubilee of our diplomatic relations, the birth centenary of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman together. I am sure that in the next 25 years of Amrit Kaal, Bar-Bangladesh friendship will touch new heights. He said that today Bangladesh is India's largest development partner and our largest trading partner in the region. People-to-people cooperation is constantly improving. We also decided to increase cooperation in sectors like IT, space and nuclear energy.

During this, Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, I am coming to India after almost 3 years, I thank India and look forward to a positive proposal between us. She said, "I wish you a very Happy Amrit Kaal for the next 25 years as India moves towards achieving the resolutions made for a self-reliant India."

Sheikh Hasina further said, I appreciate the visionary leadership of PM Modi who will continue to provide additional momentum to our bilateral relations. India is the most important and nearest neighbor of Bangladesh. India-Bangladesh bilateral relations are considered ideal for neighborhood diplomacy.
