Gujarat Election Result 2022: A few hours are left in the counting of votes for the assembly elections held in Gujarat. However, BJP leaders and workers are excited about the seventh consecutive victory in Gujarat. Let us tell you that the assembly elections in 33 districts of Gujarat were held in two phases on December 1 and 5. There is a triangular contest between the BJP, the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party.
Counting of votes will start at 8 am at 37 centers
Chief Electoral Officer P Bharti said that the counting of votes would begin at 8 am on Thursday at 37 centres. The majority mark for the 182-member state assembly is 92. The fate of a total of 1,621 candidates, including Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Aam Aadmi Party 's chief ministerial candidate Isudan Gadhvi, youth leaders Hardik Patel, Jignesh Mevani and Alpesh Thakor, will be decided on Thursday.
Exit polls predict majority for BJP in Gujarat
At the same time, political experts say that the election result will determine who will be the main opposition party in Gujarat. Let us tell you that in the predictions of many exit polls, a big majority has been predicted for the BJP in Gujarat. In such a situation, if this turns out to be true, then the party will be seen retaining power in the state for the seventh consecutive time and achieving an achievement equal to the feat of the Left Front in West Bengal. Besides, a big win here for the BJP would strengthen Narendra Modi's claim for a third consecutive term as prime minister in 2024.
Congress's role at stake
If political observers are to be believed, the Congress's role as the main challenger to the BJP is at stake and the December 8 results will reveal whether the party's silent campaign has impressed the people. Top leaders of Congress party were busy in Bharat Jodo Yatra. However, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi took time out of his Bharat Jodo tour to hold two rallies in Gujarat. Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot took command of the party's campaign in the state. Party President Mallikarjun Kharge also addressed election rallies.
AAP has this hope from the people of Gujarat
For the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which has been running an aggressive campaign, the Gujarat elections are an opportunity to establish itself as a national party and challenge the BJP at the national level as well. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal led an aggressive campaign for the AAP. He has addressed several rallies and held roadshows in the last five months. Encouraged by the victory in the Delhi Municipal Corporation elections, the Aam Aadmi Party hopes that the people of Gujarat will accept its welfare politics.
BJP trusts on Brand Modi
The BJP fought the recent elections battling anti-incumbency sentiments after ruling the state for 27 years. PM Modi was the party's trump card and BJP relied on Brand Modi to counter the anti-incumbency wave. The major issues in the elections were unemployment, price rise, water not reaching some parts of the state, land acquisition for big projects and farmers not getting proper compensation for crop damage due to excessive rains.
Low polling percentage increased BJP's tension
This time the voting percentage in Gujarat decreased by about 4 percent as compared to 2017. As against 68.39 per cent in 2017, only 64.33 per cent polling took place in the state. The reason for this drop in vote percentage was attributed to the general apathy of urban voters to exercise their franchise. The low polling percentage has worried the BJP and in the second phase the party made all out efforts to increase the polling figures.
AAP's entry into the electoral arena has resulted in a triangular contest
The contest in Gujarat has traditionally been between the BJP and the Congress. But, this time it became triangular with the entry of Aam Aadmi Party into the electoral fray. At the same time, PM Modi led the BJP's election campaign in Gujarat, addressing about 30 rallies and roadshows. Union Home Minister Amit Shah was also in Gujarat for almost two months and was managing the campaign and election strategy for the BJP. Chief ministers of BJP-ruled states, including BJP president JP Nadda, Yogi Adityanath, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Himanta Vishwa Sharma and Pramod Sawant, also addressed election rallies in the state. Along with this, almost all the central ministers of BJP campaigned in the state.
