Indian Navy Launches First Ship of Multi-Purpose Vessel Project: ‘Samarthak’
The Indian Navy’s first ship of the Multi-Purpose Vessel project, ‘Samarthak’, was launched on 14 Oct 2024 at L and T Shipyard, Kattupalli. The ship is designed for multi-dimensional roles.
Launch Ceremony Led by Naval Leadership
In keeping with maritime traditions, the launch was a ceremonious occasion presided over by Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, Chief of the Naval Staff. The ship was officially launched by Shashi Tripathi, President of the Navy Wives Welfare Association (NWWA), symbolizing the importance of both naval service and family support in such critical undertakings.
Key Role of ‘Samarthak’ in Naval Operations
‘Samarthak’ is part of a two-ship Multi-Purpose Vessel project and is designed to perform a range of functions essential to modern naval warfare. The vessel’s multi-role design allows it to serve as a support ship in various capacities, making it a key asset for future naval operations.
