There is no motive or intention in every murder, it is not necessary. If the accused knows that his act may result in death, then there is no need for detention.

The matter was being investigated by forming an SIT. Meanwhile, the state government recommended a CBI inquiry into the matter. After getting the permission of the Center, the CBI took the hand over the matter and registered an FIR and started the investigation. The Supreme Court, while hearing the Judge Uttam Anand murder case, had directed the CBI to submit the status report of the investigation to the Jharkhand High Court. The High Court continued to monitor the investigation.

On July 28, 2021, Judge Uttam Anand died after being hit by an auto. The verdict was pronounced recently after the completion of the hearing in the court of Judge Rajinikanth Pathak in the special court of CBI. Both were found guilty. Later, the police also arrested another accused Rahul Verma from near Dhanbad station. Initially the district police was investigating it. Later the investigation was started by the SIT set up by the state government. This matter also reached the Supreme Court. Later, the investigation of the case was started by the CBI under the monitoring of the High Court.
