Pakistan Condemns India’s Threat to Pursue Terrorists Across Border
Pakistan criticizes India’s Defense Minister Rajnath Singh’s statement on entering Pakistan to pursue terrorists, calling it provocative. Relations between the two countries remain tense.
Following Defense Minister Rajnath Singh's assertion that India would pursue terrorists into Pakistan if necessary, Islamabad reacted strongly, labeling the statement as ‘provocative’. The reaction came a day after Singh's remarks during an interview where he addressed a report by ‘The Guardian’ alleging Indian intelligence agencies' operations in Pakistan to neutralize terrorists threatening national security.
Tensions between India and Pakistan have escalated notably since the 2019 Pulwama attack, where Pakistan-based terrorists targeted a CRPF convoy. In response, India conducted an airstrike on a terrorist base in Balakot, Pakistan. Earlier this year, Pakistan accused Indian agents of involvement in the killing of two citizens on its soil, a claim India dismissed as propaganda.
Pakistan’s Foreign Office condemned Singh’s remarks, characterizing India's readiness to target alleged terrorists in Pakistan as an “admission of guilt.” They emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace while warning against misinterpreting their desire for peace as weakness, affirming their resolve to defend themselves.
As of now, India has not issued an official response to Pakistan's statement.
