After 13 years of trial and testimony of nine witnesses in the famous cartridge case of Rampur, 24 accused have finally been convicted. Everyone was presented in the court from jail on Friday afternoon. After this he will be sentenced. He was found guilty of causing damage to government money, possession of stolen property, criminal conspiracy and also under the Arms Act.

After the martyrdom of CRPF jawans in the Naxalite attack in Dantewada, STF had received intelligence that the cartridges used in the attack were sent from Rampur. Based on information, STF Lucknow team had raided Rampur on 29 April 2010.

STF had arrested retired PAC Inspector Yashodnandan, CRPF Havildar Vinod Kumar and Vinesh, resident of Prayagraj, near Ram Rahim Bridge. Cash worth Rs 1.75 lakh, kiosks, cartridges and weapons were recovered from their possession. On the same day, Nathiram Saini, posted in PTC from Moradabad, was also arrested.

STF and UP Police had arrested a total of 25 people, including four civilians, on the basis of Yashodhanandan's diary. After investigation, the police filed the charge sheet in the court on 28 July 2010. During the trial, the main accused Yashodnandan died and after this the case started against 24 accused.

During this period, the prosecution had recorded the statements of nine witnesses, including STF Inspector Amod Kumar Singh, while the defense had recorded only one witness in its testimony. On Thursday, Special Judge EC Act Vijay Kumar II had declared all 24 guilty and sent them to jail in judicial custody.
