Meanwhile, Congress has apologized to the BJP for the remark of Congress MP Adhir Chaudhary against President Draupadi Murmu as 'national wife' . Earlier on Thursday, BJP MPs demonstrated in Parliament against Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury's remarks on President Draupadi Murmu. Sonia Gandhi's statement has come to the fore regarding the remarks on the President. He has said that Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury has apologized.

Congress MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said that I know that whoever is the President of India, he is the President for us. This word has come out of my mouth only once. I have made this mistake. But there are some people of the ruling party who are making a mountain of mustard. He further said that since two days when we were going towards Vijay Chowk. We were being asked where are you going. We were telling them that we want to go to Rashtrapati Bhavan and want to meet the President. The word (national wife) had come out from me by mistake.

Before apologizing to Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, Union Minister Smriti Irani said in a press conference that ever since Draupadi Murmu's name was announced as the presidential candidate, Draupadi Murmu became a victim of Congress party's hatred and ridicule. The Congress party even called him a puppet. He further said that the Congress is still unable to accept the fact that a tribal woman is working to beautify the highest constitutional post of this country. Sonia Gandhi-appointed Leader of the House Adhir Ranjan addressed Draupadi Murmu as the wife of the nation.
