Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan said during the Hindu Sammelan on Saturday that anyone who was born in India, eats food here and drinks water from its rivers is a Hindu. He said this while recalling the words of Sir Syed Ahmed Khan, the founder of Aligarh Muslim University. 

Arif Mohammad Khan quoted the purported words of Sir Syed Khan that a decade ago during an Arya Samaj meeting he insisted on calling himself a Hindu. Kerala Governor said, Sir Syed Ahmed Khan believed that Hindu is not a religious word. He considered it a geographical term. 

You should call me Hindu, Arif Mohammad Khan further said that Sir Syed Ahmed Khan had told Arya Samaj people that you should call me Hindu, because Hindu is a geographical term and whoever was born in India deserves to be called Hindu. Is. He further said that it was perfectly fine to use terminologies like Hindu, Muslim and Sikh during the colonial era as the British made communities the basis for deciding the general rights of citizens.

Union Minister V Muraleedharan was also present in the programme. He alleged that there is a conspiracy going on in the state to make us feel that it is wrong to say that I am a Hindu. He said that even before independence, all the kings and rulers who believed in Sanatan Dharma accepted all religious groups with open heart.
