The Kashi Vishwanath temple is witnessing a remarkable surge in devotees, setting new records despite the scorching heat. With over a lakh devotees visiting daily, the temple's coffers are brimming with wealth, marking a notable increase of over 42 percent in the current financial year. This year alone, the temple has welcomed more than 13 crore devotees, resulting in a total income of Rs 83.34 crore.
According to Vishwa Bhushan Mishra, the Executive Officer of the Vishwanath Temple, the temple trust has significantly augmented its budgetary allocations for both income and expenditure in the fiscal year 2023-24. The temple's total income saw a substantial rise of 42.43 percent compared to the previous year, amounting to ??83.34 crore, while the gross expenditure surged by 40.38 percent, reaching ??25.32 crore.
The spike in expenditure is primarily attributed to the initiation of new welfare schemes by the Temple Trust. These schemes encompass a wide array of initiatives, including the distribution of clothing, books, and musical instruments to Sanskrit students, provision of blankets and clothing to the general public during the winter season, and offering food facilities to disabled individuals and travelers through Anna Seva. Moreover, the temple actively engages national and international scholars by organizing seminars to address global issues.
With over 13 crore devotees having already sought darshan this year, the influx of worshippers has not only enriched the temple's treasury but has also surpassed all previous records of wealth accumulation.
