New Delhi: The All India Football Federation (AIFF) on Tuesday urged FIFA to lift the ban imposed on him. The AIFF has taken this step after removing the Supreme Court's Committee of Administrators (CoA) in accordance with the demand of FIFA, the global governing body of football. AIFF Acting Secretary General Sunando Dhar urged FIFA Secretary General Fatma Samoura to "reconsider the decision to suspend the AIFF".

Dhar said, It is with great pleasure that we inform you that the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India has heard our case and vide order dated 22nd August 2022 has removed the COA in its entirety and as a result the AIFF has been allowed to carry out its day-to-day activities. Has got full charge of operation. In view of the above, we request FIFA and in particular the Bureau to reconsider our decision to suspend the AIFF.
FIFA banned
The letter further said, "The conditions stipulated in your letter to revoke the suspension have been fulfilled, therefore we request that an order in this regard be issued at the earliest so that the AIFF can continue the smooth conduct of football in India." . FIFA on 15 August suspended the AIFF for 'undue influence from third parties' and said that the U-17 Women's World Cup "cannot be held as per the pre-determined plan at present in India".
India has to host the World Cup from 11 to 30 October
As per the pre-determined schedule, India is to host the FIFA tournament from October 11 to 30. This is the first time in the 85-year history of AIFF that FIFA has banned him. The Supreme Court on Monday amended its earlier order to lift the suspension and clear the way for the Under-17 Women's World Cup in India.
AIFF elections also postponed
The Supreme Court, in its judgment, said that the day-to-day affairs of the AIFF would be managed by the AIFF administration under the leadership of an Acting Secretary-General. The committee of administrators appointed by the order of this court is removed. The top court postponed the AIFF elections, scheduled for August 28, for a week to make changes in the electoral rolls and start the nomination process. The order came on a fresh petition filed by the Sports Ministry, seeking modification of the court's orders of May 18 and August 3, after consultation with FIFA.
