Angelina Jolie: “My children gave me back the spark that I thought I had lost”
In an interview, the actress stated that her family was key to recovering her essence after the high-profile divorce from Brad Pitt
Almost 10 years after her separation from Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie confessed that her children were essential to overcome the media breakup, which made headlines for a long time.
In a recent interview with Variety, the “Maria” interpreter was more sincere than ever, acknowledging that for years she felt like she had lost a fundamental part of her being. And, in her own words, those who helped her reconnect were precisely those who know her best: her six children.
"I think I finally got my fighting spirit back. I lost it for a while. I broke down a little and, in large part thanks to my children, who are older and push me, it's coming back" Angelina Jolie
About supporting your children
Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh and the twins Knox and Vivienne, the result of her relationship with Pitt, are no longer those children who accompanied their mother on the red carpets. Today, almost all of them are adults, and have gone from being protected to becoming promoters of Jolie herself.
The actress explained that her children want to see her travel, go out, live: “They know me better than anyone and they still like me, which says a lot.” And she added that they encourage her to explore aspects of her personality that for a long time she did not feel free to recover.
The breakup with Brad Pitt in 2016 shook her personal life and also transformed her career, as she told Variety. He indicated that before the separation, he had practically left acting to devote himself to directing and his humanitarian projects.
However, circumstances forced her to rethink everything: “Suddenly, the only way to be at home more and be away for short periods, in addition to earning good money, was to go back to acting.”
Today, far from the sensational headlines and the legal disputes she still has with her ex-husband over the Château Miraval vineyard, Jolie seems to have found a new direction. A path that she travels accompanied by her people and that, as she herself defines, “is more punk.”
Jolie offered these statements in the midst of promoting her new film “Couture,” a film that also has a special meaning, since she worked on it with her son Maddox.
