A draw that tasted like victory for Palmeiras and resignation for Inter Miami. Luis Suarez was a star: he scored one goal and assisted on another. His connection with Tadeo Allende was lethal, opening the scoring and making it 2-0.
However, Palmeiras never gave up. Paulinho and Allan, with goals in the 80th and 88th minutes, completed the comeback that allowed them to avoid Paris Saint-Germain in the round of 16.
With the draw, both teams earned five points. Palmeiras finished first on goal difference and will face Botafogo in Philadelphia on June 28. Inter Miami, meanwhile, will face PSG the following day in Atlanta, in a guaranteed thrilling duel: Messi's reunion with his former team and several old acquaintances.
Porto and Al-Ahly, eliminated in a crazy duel
Meanwhile, at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, the match between Porto and Al-Ahly was a true rollercoaster. They ended in a 4-4 draw in a back-and-forth game, with constant twists and turns and no respite.
Wessam Abou Ali, scorer of three goals for the Egyptians, was the star of the show. Ben Romthane completed the scoring for Al-Ahly. For Portugal, Rodrigo Mora, William, Samu, and Pepe were the scorers. Despite the spectacle, both teams leave the tournament without a win.
