The Ecuadorian Parliament honors Moises Caicedo for his outstanding participation in the Club World Cup
The footballer received the recognition with pride and argued that he always seeks to raise his country to the top
The Assembly of Ecuador (Parliament) recognized Chelsea footballer Moises Caicedo with the Vicente Rocafuerte Award for Sporting Merit. for his "historic sporting achievement" and his "outstanding participation" in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, where the British team was crowned tournament champion.
The Ecuadorian Parliament honored his sporting legacy and professional excellence with 138 votes in favor.
"For me it is an honor, it is a pleasure, I am very grateful for the affection. I always strive to leave my country at the top, the footballer said in gratitude in front of those present in the chamber.
The 23-year-old Nino Moi™ also wanted to dedicate a few words to his parents for the education they gave him, adding that he always wanted to be a person who never forgets his roots.
Caicedo is originally from the city of Santo Domingo de los Tsachilas, the capital of the province of the same name and one of the most recognized football figures in the Andean country, after having also won the UEFA Conference League this year with Chelsea.
The young man began his professional sports career at Independiente del Valle until the 2021-2022 season when he made the leap to European football with Belgian club Beerschot, a team where he stood out, attracting the attention of English football, where he ended up joining Brighton that same season.
After a great performance at this club, Chelsea decided to sign him for the 2022-2023 season. At Stanford Bridge, he has established himself as one of the best defensive midfielders in the local competition, which has promoted him as one of the great figures of Ecuadorian football abroad.
