Tigres continues its perfect run in Liga MX after scoring a great 7-0 win over Puebla in the fourth round of the Apertura Tournament.
The felines have three wins in three games and have one game pending on the calendar. Tigres and Pachuca are the only teams with a perfect record in this championship.
Seven different scorers were on the scoreboard against Puebla, including an own goal by Nicolas Huincales.
The scorers were: Jonathan Herrera (6), Diego Lainez (36), Juan Brunetta (51), Angel Correa (55), Nicolás Huincales (58), Diego Sanchez (72) and Andre Pierre Gignac (90+3 P)
Correa, Brunetta, Lainez and Herrera scored a goal and also gave an assist, being the first time since 2012 that four players have scored and assisted in the same game.
This is the third time that Tigres has scored seven goals in a game in short tournaments and it had not been done for 21 years. The felines did it against Queretaro in 2003 and then against Veracruz in 2004.
For his part, Gignac returned to scoring in Mexican soccer after a complicated stint with injuries. The Frenchman had not scored a goal since November 6, 2004.
Tigres with a complicated schedule
The Tigres will face two difficult matches in their near future. First, they will face Andre Jardine's America on August 16, who are coming off the back of their elimination from the Leagues Cup in the group stage.
After that match, the felines will face Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez's Inter Miami on August 20 in the Leagues Cup quarterfinals.
The Apertura will continue this Saturday, when América will host Querétaro, Mazatlan Tijuana, and Atlas Pachuca, who will regain the lead with a win or a draw.
On Sunday, Pumas UNAM will play Necaxa and Santos Laguna will play Guadalajara, and on Monday, Colombian World Cup player James Rodriguez's Leon will host Monterrey, led by defender Spanish Sergio Ramos, Juarez FC to the champion Toluca and San Luis to Cruz Azul.
