UEFA put 9 of its 12 teams in the round of 16, Conmebol put 4 out of 6, Concacaf has 2 representatives out of 5 and AFC (Asia) has one. The African and Oceanian confederations have no representatives.

Due to the knockout stage brackets, there could be a match between Real Madrid and Monterrey in the quarterfinals or PSG vs. Bayern Munich in the quarterfinals.
