The Russian trainer stated that the Mexican-American boxer's insistence has gone from sports to a verbal confrontation that they will seek to resolve in the ring.
The Bivol squad considers that their pupil no longer has the obligation to validate his status before the press, since his crowns and his undefeated record support him on the international level.
However, Mashyanov acknowledged that the recent behavior of David Benavídez's team has generated particular interest in finalizing this confrontation. The goal of the European coaching staff is to silence the challenger's questions through an exhibition of technical boxing in the ring.
The goal of silencing the challenger in the ring
The strategist's statements arose after analyzing the comments of José Benavídez and his son, who have reiterated that the main objective is to snatch the 175-pound crowns from Bivol.
In an interview shared through the official Instagram account of the International Boxing Association (IBA), Mashyanov expressed: "For me, speaking globally, Dmitry has already proven everything to everyone. He became the undisputed champion, the strongest boxer, one of the best of all time, pound for pound. But my personal goal now is that guy, Benavídez, who, let's put it this way, talks too much."
This rivalry has intensified as the “Monster” camp insists they possess the tools necessary to surpass the speed of the WBA, WBO and IBF champion. Given this, the Bivol coach made it clear that the only way to resolve the criteria dispute is by signing the contract. “We will see what he is really made of,” concluded Gennadi Mashyanov. "I would like him to stop talking so much. For that to happen, someone has to get in the ring with him and shut him up once and for all," said the trainer.
The panorama of world titles and cruiserweight
The complexity of the negotiation increases due to the recent successes of David Benavídez, who was crowned unified cruiserweight monarch by obtaining the WBO and WBA titles at 200 pounds.
These belts were added to the WBC light heavyweight belt he already owned, consolidating his position in the elite. This physical versatility of the challenger is the main argument that his promoter uses to demand an immediate opportunity against Bivol.
The Mexican-American's plan includes a catchweight proposal at 190 pounds, where the titles of both weight classes would be in dispute in a single night.
However, David Benavídez's team will have to wait for the Russian boxer's regulatory commitments to be met. Bivol has a mandatory defense of his IBF belt scheduled against German Michael Eifert on May 30, after which date formal talks will begin to evaluate the viability of this unification.
