Cristiano Ronaldo sent a moving greeting to a child rescued in the earthquakes in Venezuela
A Venezuelan boy, who had to be amputated after surviving the earthquake, went viral for his fanaticism towards Cristiano Ronaldo
Cristiano Ronaldo surprised with a message addressed to Andrés Mieles, a Venezuelan boy who survived the earthquakes of June 24 and who remains hospitalized after suffering serious injuries. The captain of Portugal sent him a video of support, invited him to attend one of his matches when he recovers and thus responded to a story that had moved thousands of people inside and outside Venezuela.
The Portuguese striker's gesture came after the case of Andrés became known, who, after being rescued, expressed that one of his greatest wishes was to get the Cristiano Ronaldo figurine from the official Panini World Cup album. The story spread widely on social networks and motivated a campaign promoted by Venezuelan content creator Armando Poyo to get it to the footballer.
In the video, Ronaldo dedicated a few words to the minor. "Hello Andrés, how are you? I'm making this video to send you a hug. I know you're a super fan. When you get better, I want to invite you to watch one of my games to enjoy," said the attacker. Before saying goodbye he added: "I would love to meet you. A hug, friend."
The message reached the hospital room
Armando Poyo was in charge of personally greeting the child at the hospital where he continues to receive medical care. Another recording shared on social networks shows Andrés lying in bed while holding the Cristiano Ronaldo figurine that he wanted so much.
At that moment, a person says to him: "Did you see that you didn't believe?", while a nurse tries to encourage him and adds: "See? Here it is", when showing him the picture. The boy responds with a smile when he sees the message and the gift he had requested after the tragedy.
Andrés suffered serious injuries during the 7.2 and 7.5 magnitude earthquakes recorded on June 24. As a result of his injuries, doctors had to amputate one of his legs. Furthermore, he lost his family during the disaster, a fact that generated numerous expressions of solidarity.
The most recent official balance raised the number of people killed by the earthquakes to 2,645, while the number of injured rose to 12,666. In the midst of this emergency, the minor's story has transcended Venezuelan borders and found an echo in one of the greatest figures in world soccer.
Ronaldo's greeting coincided with Portugal's participation in the 2026 World Cup. The Portuguese team, led by the forward, recently secured its qualification for the round of 16 of the tournament, while the footballer took advantage of the concentration to send a message of encouragement to one of his youngest followers.
