Colo Colo confirmed this Monday the incorporation of the Cape Verdean goalkeeper Vozinha, who signed his contract and officially became the new reinforcement of the Chilean team after his outstanding performance in the 2026 World Cup.

The experienced goalkeeper, whose full name is Josimar José Évora Dias, arrives as a free agent after finishing his time with Chaves in Portugal's second division and will be presented in the coming days to the Cacique fans.

“Vozinha is now Cacique's!”, Colo Colo announced on his official social media accounts, whose posts since the player's arrival in Chile on Sunday night have exceeded four million views.

“Together with our president, Aníbal Mosa, Vozinha signed his contract and officially became a new Colo Colo player. Welcome to the colocolina family!” wrote the club.

Vozinha signed with Colo Colo after passing the medical exams

Before signing his signature, Vozinha successfully completed the medical tests and subsequently wore the Colo Colo kit for the first time, before moving to the Monumental stadium to formalize his incorporation.

According to reports in the Chilean press, the 40-year-old goalkeeper agreed to a contract for six months, with the option to extend the contract for 12 more months, until 2027. The agreement would contemplate a salary close to $30,000 per month.

The goalkeeper will begin his first practice with the rest of the squad this Tuesday and later will offer his first press conference as a player for the white team.

Colo Colo prepares a massive presentation for Vozinha

The arrival of Vozinha has generated enormous expectations among Colo Colo fans, who are already organizing a special reception for the goalkeeper at the Monumental stadium.

The club is working to officially present the World Cup winner on Wednesday night in front of thousands of fans, in an event similar to the one it organized during Arturo Vidal's return to Chilean soccer in 2024.

Although the club has not yet confirmed when it will debut, local media suggest that it could play its first home match on August 16 against O'Higgins, before the expected classic against Universidad de Chile.

Vozinha's impact after the 2026 World Cup

Vozinha's popularity grew significantly during the 2026 World Cup, where he was one of Cape Verde's stars thanks to his performances against Spain and Argentina.

His performance led him to add nearly 30 million new followers on Instagram and he was also chosen by fans to be part of the ideal eleven of the tournament published by FIFA.

In addition, the Chilean National Professional Football Association (ANFP) authorized the goalkeeper to use the name “Vozinha” on the shirt, a relevant exception considering that the championship regulations restrict the use of nicknames.

Colo Colo's most high-profile signing in recent years

The hiring of Vozinha represents one of the most impactful moves for Colo Colo, which seeks to regain prominence after a 2025 season that fell short of expectations, a season in which it failed to qualify for international competitions despite celebrating the institution's centenary.

The white team, leader of the Chilean league with a 12-point lead, is betting on the experience and media impact of the African goalkeeper, who arrives from Chaves after a career that includes spells at clubs in Angola, Moldova, Portugal, Cyprus and Slovakia. His signing has also placed Colo Colo at the center of the international conversation again thanks to the phenomenon that the goalkeeper generated since his participation in the 2026 World Cup.
