Dak Prescott plans to play upto 40 years like Tom Brady and Brett Favre
Dak Prescott sees himself playing into 40, but still has a mission to lead the Cowboys to the Super Bowl
Dak Prescott, quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys, said he wants to join NFL legends like Tom Brady, Brett Favre and Drew Brees by playing into his 40s.
“40 would be a very good number. Obviously, I know I've had some injuries and I played very hard in college, but I think if I can reach 40 playing at the level I want to, that would be fantastic,” the quarterback said at a conference.
Prescott, the highest-paid player in the NFL at $60 million annually, had said a couple of seasons ago that he doubted he would be able to continue being active past his forties, a thought that has since changed.
“Yeah, I've definitely changed my mind. I'm looking at it more realistically now. I think the fun and peace that this game still gives me 10 years later, I can maintain that. So, as long as I can do it at a level that I'm proud of and happy at, I'm going to keep trying,” he explained.
Dak Prescott owes it to him to lead the Cowboys to the Super Bowl
Although he is still far from reaching 40, Prescott also has to lead his team to an NFL title game and lift a Vince Lombardi trophy.
The other three legends won at least one Super Bowl, part of what immortalized them in NFL history.
In 10 seasons, he has led Dallas to the playoffs five times, but has never guided them to an NFC championship game.
Despite this, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is confident that Prescott will break the 30-year streak his team has gone without winning a Super Bowl.
This season, Dallas is in third place in the NFC East with two wins, two losses, and a tie. This Sunday, they will visit the Carolina Panthers in week six of the season.
