What until a few weeks ago was a relationship between teammates ended up becoming an off-field confrontation. Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro, who shared a locker room for seven seasons with the Miami Heat, got into an altercation at a training center used for the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas.

The incident included an argument that escalated into physical contact, according to the AP. The report indicates that Adebayo hit Herro at least once during the confrontation.

The information was not publicly confirmed by either player, and the organizations involved did not offer additional details about what happened.

The episode occurred a few days after an important movement in the NBA market. Tyler Herro was sent to the Milwaukee Bucks in the operation that brought Giannis Antetokounmpo to the Miami Heat, ending a seven-year spell with the Florida franchise, where he shared a locker room with Adebayo.

The origin of the conflict would have been a conversation on social networks

The confrontation was triggered by comments attributed to Herro about the contract signed by Adebayo with the Heat in 2024.

According to that version, the guard would have criticized the extension for three seasons and $166 million dollars that the center received in private messages sent to another person through social networks. Later, screenshots of those conversations began to circulate publicly.

The publication of those messages would have provoked a reaction from Adebayo, who decided to personally confront his former teammate during the Summer League concentration in Las Vegas.

Journalist Shams Charania also referred to the incident and explained how the exchange between both players began.

“The dispute occurred on a practice court at a Las Vegas hotel this morning, sources said — beginning when Adebayo approached Herro over comments the guard made criticizing the center on social media after his seven-year stint in Miami ended.”

The Miami Heat acknowledged that they are aware of what happened, although they avoided delving into the issue and decided not to issue additional comments.

Herro, for his part, was later seen during a Summer League game between the Bucks and the Heat. After the meeting he spoke briefly with the Miami Herald and the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, but preferred not to offer details about the episode.

“My only comment is that I have nothing to say,” he declared.

While Herro attended the match between both teams, Adebayo was not present.

The incident marks an unexpected outcome for two players who for years shared the core of the Miami Heat sports project and who now belong to different franchises after one of the most important movements of the recent NBA market.
