Kun Agüero offers advice to Gilberto Mora
The former Barcelona footballer offered his impressions of Gilberto Mora. Agüero recognizes that the next step will not be easy
Gilberto Mora is the biggest bet in Mexican football. The Xolos de Tijuana footballer is only 17 years old and his projection excites Aztec football fans. Sergio “Kun” Agüero offered his impressions and advice on Mora's career.
"The first thing is that he continues in the same way and that nothing in his environment distracts him from his goal. At 17 years old it is not easy to debut and be in the national team. What he should be doing is leaning on his family and not listening to nonsense that the environment says, that he is very good or that they flatter him so much. I think that could be a problem for him in the future," Agüero said for ESPN.
Sergio Agüero had an equally precocious career. The Argentine soccer player left his country in 2006. “Kun” was only 18 years old and Atlético de Madrid paid more than $25 million dollars for his signing.
Gilberto Mora has already had multiple important experiences in the Mexican team. From youth World Cups to the 2026 Senior World Cup. Mora has gained a lot of experience and interest from European clubs continues to surface.
"He has to focus. They will want him on any big team. He has to continue this way. He is very young, he has a very long career ahead of him. We hope he continues like this because being 17 years old in the Mexican national team is something very important," he added.
Until now, Gilberto Mora would remain in Liga MX for Apertura 2026. No report has emerged that puts him out of the Xolos de Tijuana in the summer market. However, that option remains latent. The important thing is that this does not affect the jewel of Mexican football.
"Now it's about maintaining that level, not making mistakes. Any mistake you make can make everything fall apart and then it's difficult to turn the situation around," he concluded.
