Much has been said about the possible retirement of Neymar Jr. The Brazilian footballer already took his first step to the side with the Canarinha after the 2026 World Cup. At the club level, Neymar Jr. still belongs to Santos FC. “Ney” spoke about his retirement.
The 34-year-old footballer acknowledged that he does not have much security regarding his career. Neymar Jr. admitted that he has not made a decision about it.
“I don't know how long (I'm going to continue playing), I don't think about stopping nor do I know when I'm going to do it,” the former FC Barcelona player began in the mixed zone.
Neymar Jr. reaffirmed his commitment to Santos FC. “Ney” has a current contract with the club until December 2026. The bond with “Peixe” will be respected by the footballer born in Mogi das Cruzes. The next step is unknown.
"I have a contract with Santos until December. I intend to fulfill it, honor the Santos shirt in the best possible way, and then I will think when my contract ends if I continue at Santos, leave, stop playing or continue," he said.
More minutes of play for “Ney”
Fortunately for Neymar Jr, injuries have taken a back seat to his career in recent months. “Ney” himself acknowledged that he feels good physically every time he enters the playing field.
"I really don't know what I'm going to do. There's a long way to go until December, so we're going little by little. I'm feeling good physically, getting better and better on the playing field. And that's what matters," he added.
In the last stretch of the campaign, “Ney” has managed to play up to 18 games divided between Serie A, Copa do Brasil, Paulista Championship and the Copa Sudamericana. The former FC Barcelona player accumulates 8 goals and 4 assists during 1,490 minutes on the field.
