Mexican boxer Luis Pantera Nery registered physical complications during the official weigh-in ceremony prior to his confrontation against John Riel Casimero in Aichi, Japan.

The professional commitment, originally agreed at the limit of 124 pounds, will remain on the billboard under special conditions after the Tijuana native's ruling.

The Filipino Casimero completed the administrative procedure without any setbacks by registering a weight of 123.5 pounds on his first attempt. In contrast, the Aztec fighter weighed 127.2 pounds over the official Roman of the local commission, exceeding by more than three pounds the limit established in the promoter's contract.

Complications in the Roman Aichi

Given the surplus recorded on the scale, the situation forced Pantera Nery to use the regulatory two hours of tolerance to try to reduce the physical difference. However, upon returning for the second official attempt, the athlete only managed to reduce the indicator to 127 pounds.

Despite the physical disparity, the organizers decided not to cancel the main event. According to information shared by the promoter Kameda Promotions through its official broadcast channels, the fight will continue in force on the weekend card as long as the fighter meets a final mandatory physical test.

“It has been established that the fight will take place, but the Mexican boxer must undergo a second weigh-in with a rehydration limit,” the promotion company detailed in its official report after the meeting of the work teams. This measure seeks to guarantee a minimum level of sporting equity for the Filipino opponent in the ring.

Strict combat conditioning

The medical protocol stipulates that on Saturday morning the control weighing will be carried out where the rehydration levels of the Mexican corner will be evaluated. If the indicator exceeds the percentage allowed by the authorities of the Japan Boxing Commission, the fight will be definitively canceled to protect the integrity of the athletes.

This recurrence by Pantera Nery in Asian territory could have direct consequences on his professional license. The governing body of the discipline in Japan will evaluate the application of administrative and disciplinary sanctions once the event scheduled at the Aichi Sky Expo venue concludes.

Casimero's team accepted the rehydration conditions and the corresponding financial penalties to avoid the fall of the function. In a note published by the Manila Bulletin sports portal, the Filipino's representation confirmed that his athlete is focused exclusively on the technical performance that he will show during the ten scheduled rounds.

The history of indiscipline at weighing

Pantera Nery's complications with the regulatory weight represent repeat behavior within his professional career. In March 2018, the fighter was stripped of the world bantamweight championship of the World Boxing Council after registering three pounds of excess before his rematch against the Japanese Shinsuke Yamanaka.

A year later, a similar incident caused the definitive cancellation of his match against Puerto Rican Emanuel Rodríguez. On that occasion, the Puerto Rican boxer's corner declined to participate in the card, arguing the lack of professionalism of his Mexican counterpart when complying with the demands of the contract.

After overcoming a period of suspension that prevented him from carrying out his activity in Japan, the Aztec athlete had managed to re-enter the boxing market in that country.

The development of the next few hours will determine if Pantera Nery manages to overcome the rehydration limit imposed by local commissioners to finally get into the ring this Saturday.
