South Korea arrived in Guadalajara to the rhythm of Guadalajara folklore
Led by its LAFC star, Son Heung-min, the South Korean team arrived at Perla Tapatia to seek success in Group A of the 2026 World Cup
The South Korean team is already in the city of Guadalajara to face the activity of Group A of the 2026 World Cup that will be held against Mexico, South Africa and the Czech Republic, both in the capital of Guadalajara and in the city of Monterrey, where they will seek a place in the second phase of the World Cup.
The arrival of the South Koreans was the highlight of the World Cup atmosphere in the Perla Tapatia, as they were received with mariachis and Jalisco folklore, where they were not exempt from applause, photographs, t-shirts and flags alluding to the event.
With the strains of regional music melodies under the strains of mariachis and with a village party atmosphere, the Asian players got off the bus that deposited them at the grand tourism hotel where they will be staying to get ready for the next few days to face their World Cup commitments.
The one who captured the attention was its star Son Heung-min, captain and top figure of South Korea, who led the arrival of the delegation and who plays for the LAFC team of the Major League Soccer (MLS). Two other of the team's biggest stars arrived with him: Kim Min-jae, a solid defender from Bayern Munich, and Lee Kang-in, a talented midfielder from Paris Saint-Germain.
The Mexican fans received the South Korean team with affection, remembering that victory over Germany in 2018 that allowed the Tricolor to advance to the next phase to face and be eliminated by Brazil in the round of 16.
Right from that moment there is a special affection for this team that has faced Mexico on two occasions in the World Cup. The first time in 1998, when Mexico won 3-1 with two goals from Luis Hernández and one more from Ricardo Peláez, as well as in 2018 with a score of 2-1 with goals from Carlos Vela and Javier Hernández.
That was the least of it, because this Friday, that affection was once again evident in every flag, every photograph and every shout of welcome. The smiles, greetings and gestures of gratitude towards the fans were more than evident, but everything will surely change next June 18 at 7:00 p.m. when they face each other on the second date of Group A of the World Cup tournament.
In this way, the Asian team officially began its World Cup adventure in Guadalajara territory. Guadalajara already breathes football, and South Korea already feels the warmth of a city that has welcomed it as at home, in its duel against the Czech Republic.
The Guadalajara fans were present to welcome the great Korean idol, showing their admiration with Tottenham t-shirts and displays of support since his arrival in Guadalajara. Dozens of fans gathered with the hope of seeing one of the greatest figures in Asian football up close, generating a great atmosphere among those present.
The players got off the bus without having the opportunity to stop to greet fans or sign autographs; The response from the fans was positive. Many of the attendees were satisfied simply for having been able to see their idols a few meters away and witness their arrival in the city.
