Player from Los Angeles conquers the main event of the 2026 World Cup of Poker and wins $188 thousand dollars
Anthony Márquez shone at the 2026 World Series of Poker Circuit, achieving his first gold ring after beating a field of 693 participants in California.
Professional poker had a high-level week in California with the most recent stop of the World Series of Poker Circuit at the Commerce Casino, where the American Anthony Marquez won the Main Event title and a prize of $187,977.
The event brought together players from different parts of the United States and distributed more than $3 million in prizes during an intense series of tournaments held from May 7 to 18, 2026.
Anthony Marquez gets revenge in the WSOP Circuit Main Event
After coming close to the title in 2024, Anthony Marquez finally managed to conquer the Main Event of the World Series of Poker Circuit at Commerce Casino.
The player originally from the Los Angeles area thus obtained his first gold ring on the WSOP circuit, adding it to the WSOP bracelet he already owned.
“I tried to turn that into a lesson today,” Marquez told PokerOrg after his win, referencing when he came close to the title two years ago. "I took the experience I gained from that previous tournament and came here very relaxed, very focused. I trusted my ability and tried to execute my game plan in the best way possible," quotes a statement from the organization.
The victory represented personal revenge for Marquez, who in November 2024 finished one place away from the championship in the same tournament.
The Main Event exceeded one million dollars in prizes
The main tournament at Commerce Casino had a buy-in of $1,700 dollars and registered a total of 693 participants, generating a cumulative purse of more than one million dollars.
Anthony Marquez took home most of the prize pool thanks to a solid performance at the final table, establishing himself as one of the most prominent names at this stop of the World Series of Poker Circuit.
In addition to the financial prize, the champion obtained a package of $5 thousand dollars to play the Circuit Championship at WSOP Paradise this December.
Commerce Casino distributed more than $3 million dollars
The series organized by the World Series of Poker awarded a total of $3,037,825 during the 18 official events held in California.
The festival brought together both recognized professionals and amateur players, once again consolidating Commerce Casino as one of the most important poker venues in the United States.
Other notable WSOP Circuit winners in California
In addition to Anthony Marquez's victory, other players also won important prizes during the series.
Maksim Tatarintsev won the Event #2 Mini Main for $85,069, while Qun Dang took the Event #5 Monster Stack for $43,091.
For her part, Cassidy Neilson conquered High Roller Event #17 and received a prize of $39,450.
