This Sunday at Dignity Health Sports Park, there was more at stake than third place in the Leagues Cup: a ticket to the Concacaf Champions Cup, better known as the Concachampions, and the LA Galaxy took both.

With goals With Marco Reus and Joseph Paintsil, the Los Angeles team beat Orlando City 2-1, with Martin Ojeda scoring a consolation goal.

Just in the 9th minute, the Galaxy took the lead, through the German, who finished off a counterattack by finishing from the edge of the six-yard box with his left foot.

There were no more clear chances for the Galaxy in the first half, during which they dedicated themselves to withstanding the attacks of the Orlando team, who could not pierce the goal defended by Novak Micovic.

For the second half, the Galaxy received bad news: Marco Reus could not continue in the game, in the 55th minute he paid the ravages of the battle and asked to be substituted. Manager Greg Vanney, incredulous, had to bring on Julian Aude.

Five minutes later, Orlando got their just reward for their persistence when Martin Ojeda volleyed home a cross from Ivan Angulo that the defense couldn't handle and bounced a couple of times in the box before the finish.

With the score tied and Reus already on the bench, the Galaxy needed a new hero to give them a ticket to the Concacaf Champions League and make their fans forget about the disastrous season they're having in MLS. That hero appeared in the 67th minute, when Joseph Paintsil unleashed a shot from the edge of the penalty area to beat Pedro Gallese and give the Angels the lead again.

Orlando City tried until the last moment to recover and tie the game by defining from the penalty spot, however, they were unable to achieve their goal and the Galaxy were left with the coveted ticket to the regional tournament.
