Tickets for all budgets: the presale of tickets for LA28 begins
Los Angeles area residents can now purchase Olympic Games tickets before the general public sale
The Los Angeles Olympic Games (LA28) reached another important milestone on April 2nd on the road to the universal celebration of sport with the presale of tickets for Southern California residents.
People in the Los Angeles area who had already registered for LA28 to be eligible to purchase Olympic Games tickets began receiving notifications on The day to access the official platform and choose your tickets. The purchase window is 48 hours. Residents of Oklahoma City, which will be a sub-venue for the Olympics, have the same opportunity. Ticket sales to the general public—national and international—will begin next week under the same system. All those interested must register here for the opportunity. Millions of people have registered since registration opened in January. “Accessibility was one of our biggest priorities,” says Jacie Prieto Lopez, vice president of communications for LA28. "Because what we wanted was for the people of Los Angeles and the surrounding counties to attend and be part of such a historic moment. It's a once-in-a-lifetime experience."
More opportunities to purchase tickets this year
The start of the presale, Prieto Lopez indicates, is the first step for people to visualize and begin planning their attendance at the Olympic Games, the third in Los Angeles history and the first in the city since 1984.
Those interested who register from now on will have multiple opportunities to purchase tickets, beginning with the first-phase drawing next week. Those who have already registered and have not yet received notification will be automatically included in the drawing for the sale from April 9 to 19. A second drop of tickets will go on sale in a few months. The following video explains (in English) step by step how to buy tickets for the Games of the XXXIV Olympiad, which will take place from July 14 to 30, 2028.
Tickets will be available for all budgets
LA28's message to Southern California fans is that absolutely everyone will have the opportunity to purchase tickets and that there will be purchasing options for all budgets.
“Only 5% of the tickets cost more than $1,000. More than 75% of the tickets, even for the finals, cost less than $400, and half of those cost less than $200,” explains Prieto Lopez, LA28's vice president, emphasizing that these prices are similar to or lower than those of professional sporting events.
It's worth remembering that tickets for the Games will almost symbolically start at $28 and that the preliminary competition sessions—when there are no medals awarded—are cheaper than the finals.
The ticket limit per person is 12
Each person has a limit of 12 total tickets purchased for the Olympic Games that can be for different sports. In addition, up to 12 additional tickets can be purchased for soccer matches.
According to the LA28 executive, the public will have the opportunity to purchase tickets for the Games' opening ceremony with a limit of four tickets for the grand event on July 14, 2028, which will take place between the Memorial Coliseum and SoFi. Stadium.
Tickets purchased for both the opening and closing ceremonies will count toward the total limit of 12 tickets for the Games (excluding soccer).
Avoid purchasing tickets via resale
Although there will be multiple official ticket resale platforms, LA28 organizers ask the public not to purchase tickets through this channel before 2027.
“If you see tickets for resale this year, please do not buy them because we cannot guarantee them,” notes Prieto Lopez.
