The Inter Miami Herons grew in the face of adversity. With an incredible own goal from their goalkeeper Rocco Ríos Novo and the absences of Lionel Messi and his compatriot Rodrigo De Paul in the stands, Tata Martino's team managed to ruin the brand new debut of the Polish Robert Lewandowski with the Chicago Fire with a vibrant score of 2-3.

A victory that had as its main architects the Uruguayan Luis Suárez with a double and the youthful Preston Plambeck. Both rescued the team after the serious mistake of the American goalkeeper in the 18th minute, who tried to clear a delayed ball and, when he swung the ball completely, could not prevent it from going into the back of the net.

For a moment it was believed that this mistake would mark the fate of the Herons, but the team pulled out all the strength to spoil Lewandowski's presentation game. The attacker had a discreet performance and without the specific weight that was expected to fuel the Chicago offense.

The Fire did not take advantage of the gift and ended up suffering a painful defeat against the character of an Inter Miami that sealed the tie in the 27th minute thanks to a Suárez penalty. Later, at the start of the second half (51'), the Miami team managed to get ahead on the scoreboard with the second score by the “Pistolero” after a great collective play.

Although the Chicago Fire reacted with the temporary equalizer scored by South African Puso Dithejane in the 67th minute, the visitors kept the pressure high. When the distribution of points was already called, Preston Plambeck appeared in the 87th minute to push a rebound and seal the final winning goal.

With this victory, Inter Miami reaches 34 points and consolidates itself in second place in the MLS Eastern Conference. For its part, Chicago Fire remains in third position with 26 units despite the setback in the debut of its new international star.
